ChatBlur Pro

Privacy Policy

Effective August 12, 2026

In short

ChatBlur Pro blurs chat content directly inside your browser. It never reads, copies, or sends your messages, images, or contacts anywhere. Your settings stay on your own device. Nothing is collected, logged, or sold.

What ChatBlur Pro does

ChatBlur Pro is a browser extension that applies a visual CSS blur to chat text, names, photos, videos, and profile pictures on supported messaging websites (listed below), so the contents of your screen aren't visible to people glancing over your shoulder or appearing in screen shares.

The blur is applied by adding a style to elements that are already loaded in your own browser tab. The extension does not extract, screenshot, transmit, or store the content it blurs — it only changes how that content is displayed to you.

What we do not collect

Where your settings live

Your preferences — whether blur is on, blur intensity, which categories (text, names, images, videos, profile pictures) are blurred, per-site on/off switches, and your chosen theme — are saved using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API.

That means these settings are stored only on your own device, inside your own browser profile. They are never synced to a server, never sent over the network, and are not accessible to us, to the sites you visit, or to any other extension.

Permissions we ask for, and why

PermissionWhy it's needed

Third parties

ChatBlur Pro does not share, sell, or transmit any data to third parties — because it does not collect or transmit any data in the first place. There are no third-party SDKs, ad networks, or analytics providers embedded in this extension.

Children's privacy

ChatBlur Pro is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, regardless of age — consistent with everything above.
